8 Ball Aitken

Jack has played extensively around Australia and has supported the likes of Blue Shaddy, Ash Grunwald, EmDee, Loren, Hatz Fitz, The Groovesmiths, Gangajang, The Dave Mann collective and The Angels etc. At times invited on stage to jam with them.
Together with 17 year old Mick Burley from NSW on harmonica the two have an ability to improvise thus creating a sound completely their own which makes every performance unique. Jack continues to forge his identity with the release of his four track all original EP “The Road Begins”, with help on Double Bass and Lap Steel Bass from Gavin Shoesmith (early John Butler Trio currently front man for the Groovesmiths) and Percussion by Angus Diggs (formally accompanied Jeff Lang and is presently drumming for Mia Dyson). Now is your chance to see and hear the exceptional work of these young up and coming artists, don’t miss it!!!

A firm favourite at the Perth Blues Club is 8 Ball Aitken, who’s making a stop at the club as part of his “High Water” Australian Tour.
His funky, foot stomping energy and infectious blend of swampy-blues, has brought the party vibe to festivals in more than a dozen countries worldwide for a decade. Now he’s back with a new album “Swamp Blues”. The album debuted #2 in the Australian Blues Music Charts and the single ‘High Water’ went to #1 on the AMRAP AIRIT Radio charts.
Recorded at Yellow Dog Studios in Wimberley, Texas’ Hill Country, 8 Ball laid down his guitar tracks through analogue tape machine for the warm guitar tones. JJ Johnson from Tedeschi Trucks Band played drums on the album, and legendary Austin musician Glenn Fukunaga played bass. Dallas, Texas songwriter Guthrie Kennard provided backing vocals on many of the tracks.”
“Swamp Blues is my salute to the rhythms and grooves of the Deep South and is my most stripped back studio recording to date. Much of my USA touring is traversing between Texas, Tennessee, and Florida, travelling through Louisiana, home to the gritty, sub-genre sound I love the most and birth place of one of my musical heroes, Tony Joe White,” says 8 Ball.
“Of the 12 tracks, two were co-written with friend and 100% certified Texas Bluesman, Guthrie Kennard, and it was such a thrill to be creative partners on High Water and Mama’s Cookin,” 8 Ball adds.
Swamp Blues is out now on CD, iTunes, vinyl record, and cassette.

Lachlan Lyon, Marie Young and Paul Archibald are The Bonekickers, a blues/rock band from the Perth Hills that loves to play music at any venue. Their music gets people dancing and they want their audiences to have as much fun as they do.
The Bonekickers were started by Marie (guitars/vocals) and Lachlan (Bass, Vocals, Harmonica) after they met in highschool. After jamming together on a few old Stones and Creedence tracks, they started writing orginals and began gigging in 2009. The band released an EP in 2011, and after adding drummer Paul to the lineup, the band continued to bring an infectious blend of rock/blues/country/rockabilly with a contemporary twist to as many people as possible!
Now a five-piece with the addition of David D’Angelo on guitar and Murray Watts on keys, The Bonekickers have grown into one of the most versatile blues bands in Perth.
