Cuatro Tortillas + Lindsay Wells Band
Cuatro Tortillas | 7.30pm
The band originated as a ZZTOP-tribute in Germany in the early 90s. Over the next 10 years, the band played numerous festivals and club shows and toured the UK twice. Around 2010, lead singer and bass player Mario Schmack reactivated the band in Perth, with the addition of Mark Lovich on guitar/vocals and Stu Robertson on drums. The band has performed regularly at the Perth Blues Club and other venues. The Tortillas’ repertoire is drawn from the early blues-rock sound that made that little ol’ band from Texas so special. While they pay homage to the classic versions of the songs, they are known for interpreting the music their own way, with masterful improvisation, just like ZZTOP themselves.
Lindsay Wells Band | 8.45pm
Joining renowned bluesman Lindsay Wells on guitar and vocals is Bob Geaves on bass and Jayden McEach on drums. Much has been made of the new breed of Perth rock musicians who are putting our city on the world’s musical map but Lindsay Wells has been doing it for over 30 years. To find out if that accolade is true, you have to experience the awesomeness of Wells up close and personal.
Wells is a musician whose career has extended to most of his life beginning at the age of 11 with the East Vic Park School Brass Band as a multi-instrumentalist majoring on trombone. As rock’n’roll became a magnetic driving force in the ‘60s, Wells decided to become a guitarist and quickly developed into one of Australia’s greats, featuring as a member and leader of some of the most entertaining and legendary bands in our music scene. He has since played as a guest with many of the world’s great bands including Eric Clapton with whom he played a two hour concert.
