Dilip N The Davs | 9.00pm

If you were to bottle the rhythms and essence of Freo, it would have a Dilip n the Davs label on it.  The band have been gigging and releasing albums consistently over the last 20 years and are well known for their engaging, energetic live shows and original music across several genres.
Blues infused, jazz tinged, reggae flavoured and country sprinkled sounds is what is usually on offer at their gigs.  Drawing on their extensive repertoire that comes from 8 albums and a half dozen singles, there is always a pleasing variety of musical styles.
Quite a few musicians have played in the band over the years; each bringing their own strengths and interests.  At last count, over 50 musicians have been through the lineup at various stages.  The band had a reputation for being a training ground for young, talented emerging musicians.  In three of the band iterations there have been father and son combinations
The current band iteration formed just after Covid passed and that sense of relief and desire for healing seems to have influenced the band’s music.  Award winning songwriter Dilip Parekh is the main singer and writer of the songs.  Co-founder of the band in 2005, Andrew Pring on harp, is one of the three soloists.  The others are Douglas Jones on sax and NZ guitarist Jorb Uangakore who has eschewed his beloved metal to do something different.  On drums Warren Harvey brings his own distinctive style influenced by West African music.  Alan Dawson, well known musician in at least 7 bands at last count, is the group’s bass man and has been producing the most recent recordings.  Regular special guest harmonica player Jean Guy Lemire from Freo will also be joining the band for the night.
DAVs are most excited about their show at the Club and eager to share their new music with everyone.  For those who enjoy multi genre, irresistibly joyous music composed right here in the West, this is a Tuesday night you should not miss.
