Harp Attack

Each year the Perth Blues Club celebrates the influence the Blues Harp (harmonica) has had on blues music through the ages.
This is one of our most popular themed nights and incorporates a free introductory tutorial for anyone interested in taking up the instrument.
Get there early and have a chat with other like minded harmonica enthusiasts. Perhaps find out about the Harmonica Club – this is all good stuff! The traditional workshop will start at 7pm with Gus Collinson from the West Australian Harmonica Club. We advise you bring a diatonic 10 hole harmonica in the key of ‘C ‘ if you wish to partake in a beginners’ lesson.

7.30pm Natural Boogie featuring Steven “Chook” Kier on Guitar and Jorma Merilainen on Blues Harp will open the show.

Our special guests are highly experienced performers. We have Gary ‘Gus’ Collinson with his vibrant, enthusiastic and inspiring teaching advice and authentic Chicago style Blues Harp and Geoff Bushby from the Shinkickers and Blue Devils plus multi talented artist Chelsea Gibson.

During the night we will pay a tribute to James Cotton (Muddy Waters’ masterful sideman) and listen to his music in the breaks.

The DooDaddies featuring Dave Brewer (Electric Guitar), John Wilson (Upright and Electric Bass) and Yugon Chobanoff (Drums) will back our special guests. Dave Billing will host the evening and blow harmonica with his band the DooDaddies.

There will be spot prizes courtesy of Mando Harps www.mandoharps.com.au
