Hot Biscuit Band + The Yowies
Hot Biscuit Band | 7.30pm
A band of veteran players headed by Rick Steele with a mix of blues and laid-back country rock, The Hot Biscuit Band manages to cultivate a definitive Australian imagery with its music, rather than merely reproducing American roots music. The band took its name from the legendary “King Biscuit Time” radio show, which brought music to generations of black Americans throughout the Mississippi Delta and beyond, spawning the career of BB King, among others and often cited as the birthplace of rock’n’roll. In a similar vein, the Hot Biscuit Band has fostered the talents of many fledgling performers over the years, but retained the integral unit that made the band popular in Australia and NZ.
Featuring Rick Steele with Richie Pavledis, Tony Shergold, Marc Gordon and special guest, Alex Dixon.
The Yowies | 9.00pm
“Hairy Men playing Hairy Music”
Age old tales of shadows in the dark, a flash of movement in the corner of your eye, unearthly howls, growls, whoops and hollers, a mighty racket enough to scare the pants off the unsuspecting…what can it be…nocturnal, elusive, hairy, man like and loud? Well…elders & rattled witnesses have tried to tell us for centuries…
The Yowies, those ethereal creatures of myth and legend, they’re very real and very much right here and Perth Blues Club is where you’ll spot them in all their Hairy Man glory for the first time. Join Pete Romano, Richie Pavledis, Tony Shergold and Hank Deberitz to launch this very Hairy RnB band, right here at Perth Blues Club.
